History: | "Named ""'Hannings Bay' by (Captain) Nathaniel Portlock when examined by him April 29, 1787, after a family interested in the company which sent him out. (The name was later erroneously) adopted by (Captain) Vancouver as 'Hunning's Harbor'"" (Wagner, 1937, p. 391). Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1378, dated 1847, gave the name ""Port Bazil"" for this feature." |
