History: | "Aleut name called ""Zal(iv) Unytkhalen"" or ""Unytkhalen Bay"" by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 14), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). This name possibly comes from the Aleut word ""unaxtak"" which, according to R. H. Geoghegan, means ""broken."" This bay was called ""Mountain Bay"" by U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) in 1888." |
