History: | Named by D. J. Miller, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in 1960 for Ross V. Green (1886-1959), who was founder of the Cordova Izac Walton Chapter and, because of his interest in outdoor activities, aided several U.S. Geological Survey parties based in the Cordova area. Green was born in Missouri and, after living for many years in Idaho, came to Cordova in 1942. The first known landing on this lake by airplane was made by Miller on the day of Mr. Green's funeral. |
