History: The Coppermount post office was established here in 1900 and transferred to Sulzer in 1907 (Ricks, 1965, p. 14). This former mining settlement is shown as abandoned on current sources. "Few signs remain of the salmon cannery , formerly located on the northern shore of the bay" (US Coast and Geodetic Survey, 1962, p. 77).
