History: | "from unpublished manuscript by Walter James Hoffman (ca. 1895), Batzulnetas was an Thtena Indian village near the upper Copper River where the trail to Tanana River began. from that of a chieftain of the Ahtena, who lived on the Copper River near the mouth of the Slana River. USA, wrote, on June 2, 1885, that Batzulneta ""was six feet four inches high, and clad in a blouse of scarlet flannel * * * pair of native trousers * * * a black woolen hat with strips of red flannel, completed his costume. a tangled roll three feet long.""" |
