History: | Named for Ensign A. V. Zane, U.S. Navy (USN), a member of Lieutenant G. M. Stoney's expedition, who made a side trip from Fort Cosmos, on the Kobuk, to Nulato, on the Yukon, and back, in the winter of 1885-86. He traveled alongside these mountains on his trip. |
