History: | "Aleut name published by Captain Lutke (1836, p. 267, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as ""Toungovlik,"" and by Father I Veniaminov (1840, v. 1, p. 255) as ""Tunulik"" and ""Tunulyak"" (p. 266). According to R. H. Geoghegan, Father Veniaminov took the name from the Aleut ""tunggaq"" meaning ""hard, solid, or firm."" The exact location of this island is not known." |
