History: | "Ivan Petroff on an 1880 Census map showed the name ""Tennanah Mts."" paralled to the middle course of the Tanana River. The name ""Tanana Hills"" was applied in 1948 by Erwin Raisz to the physiographic province referred to as the ""Yukon-Tanana Highlands"" in this report and as the ""Yukon-Tanana Upland"" in Wahrhaftig (1965, pl. 1), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)." |
