History: | "The identity of the stream called ""Popes"" by Dall (1870, p. 275), is not certain. He lists it as the second stream, going north, between Scammon Bay and the Yukon delta. It may have been named by Dall for Frank L. Pope, assistant engineer of the Western Union Telegraph Expedition of 1865. The present application of the name was given by US@C&GS in 1925." |
