History: | Named in 1908 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS). This was an arbitrary name derived from the name assigned in 1897 by Lieutenant Commander E. K. Moore, U.S. Navy (USN), to a triangulation station on the island. The name was published in the 1908 Coast Pilot (p. 171). |
