History: | Local name reported in 1933 by R. H. Sargent, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), who misapplied it to Mitchell Slough 4 miles to the southeast. The name is said to have been given for Earl Ohmer, a former resident of Petersburg who died about 1952. |
