History: | Tlingit Indian name published in 1896 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) as Cha-ik Bay. The bay is probably identical to that called Chaqua Cove by Captain Rowan of the Eliza in 1799, and Chaque Bay by Commander Meade, U.S. Navy (USN), in 1869. |
