History: | "This stream was originally called Snake River by the 1939 U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) field party because ""***this river is very crooked."" The name, however, was changed the following year to Winding Creek, thought to be more appropriate ""***since the stream is small to be called a river and the name snake might be thought to indicate the presence of many reptiles in it.""" |
