History: | Descriptive name used locally because of the resemblance of the rock to a Russian priest. Captain Lutke (1836, p. 281), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), says: The broken-down cliffs and isolated rocks sometimes take the most fantastic forms; as, for example, the one just in front of Cape Kalekta exactly resembles an old man having his head inclined and his arms crossed on his breast. |
