History: | "Eskimo name reported to mean ""big sleeve"" (asigpak) according to U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1950, probably referring to the broad straight valley in which the stream in located. E. S. Burch records the name as ""Asagpam Kunga"" meaning ""Asagpa River."" ""Asagpa"" is the name of the 590 foot hill north of the stream mouth. See Asikpak Mountain." |
