History: | "Along this stream, in 1885, Stoney (1900, map), U.S. Navy (USN), recorded the spelling ""Kal-e-gu-ri-che-ark (Reed)."" The 1901 fieldsheet of D. L. Raeburn, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), retained the name ""Reed River,"" applying the Eskimo name to a stream farther east. In 1910, P. S. Smith, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), applied the name ""Kallareechuk River"" to its present location." |
