History: | "The Indian name ""Tonzona"" was applied in 1899 to the stream now called ""Little Tonzona River"" by Lieutenant J. S. Herron, USA. A. H. Brooks, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), traveling nearer the foot of the Alaska Range in 1902 mistakenly applied Herron's name ""Tonzona"" to this stream. of the name established its present usage." |
