History: | Probably named by Pierre Erussard. The name is spelled Parris in a placer claim filed by him, M. A. Hayes, and Henry Borien in 1881. The early miners called the stream both Hayes Creek for Michael Angelo Hayes, one of the locators, and French Pete's Creek for Pierre Erussard (DeArmond, 1957, p. 34). The name Paris Creek was published in 1893 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS). |
