History: | "Transliteration of ""M(ys) Opasnyy"" the name given to this point by Sub. Lieutenant Mikhail Murashev, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), in 1839 or 1840 and published in 1849 on Russian Hdrog. Dept. Chart 1425. Baker (1906, p. 208) published ""Dangerous Cape,"" the translation of Murashev's name. Because of dulpication, the name was changed to its present form in 1909 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS)." |
