History: | "Lieutenant H. T. Allen, USA, named a stream west of the Delta River, ""Delta Creek,"" but its exact identity has been a problem to map makers.. This particular stream came to be called ""Little Delta River"" in the early 1900's, no doubt in an effort to retain a form of Lieutenant Allen's name, but at the same time to differentiate it from nearby Delta River and Delta Creek. Its Indian name was ""Silokh"" according to A. H. Brooks, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in 1898. J. T. Geoghegan, however, gives its Indian name as ""Husacheg.""" |
