History: | Local name given by prospectors who crossed the Chugach Mts. between 1904 and 1907. The name was derived from the coniferous shrub which comprises the most conspicuous element of the scant vegetation on the nunatak. The name was reported by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1913. |
