History: | "Eskimo name meaning ""murder"" referring to a famous folktale of a battle near here between the Tigaramiut (Point Hop people) and the Kivalinagmiut (Kivalina people) according to Lawrence Sage who lived here as a boy. W. O. Pruitt, University of Alaska, applied this name to Kiktoya Creek. The name was reported in 1950 as ""Inuktuk"" by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS)." |
