| History: | Locally named for Charles Doty, who was born in Massachusetts and served in the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. He came to Alaska in 1886 and about 1900 claimed a homestead at Doty Cove. He died at Douglas in 1914 (DeArmond, 1966). The name was reported byU.S. Forest Service (USFS)in 1929. |
