History: | "Named ""Big Black"" in 1898 by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) ""because of confusion of this stream with Rat and Little Black Rivers on maps."" The word Draanjik is of Gwich'in origin and translates to “caches along the river.”" |
