History: | Named in 1898 by W. J. Peters and A. H. Brooks, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), for the first trader to establish a post on the Tanana. The post was at Harper Bend, where Mrs. Bean was murdered by the Indians. See Harper Bend. |
